Self Care Time!

Self Care

By Steven Bates 1 April 2, 2022

When times are hardest

And have you down

When a smile is farthest

From your current frown

When your body’s drained

Of all energy

And you’re feeling pained

And no longer care-free

When you’ve forgotten your way

To negotiate life

And can no longer say

What’s causing your strife

It’s this time my friend

You need to reach out

Take time to mend

Let’s turn this about

Do what you need

To take care of you

Take a walk, plant a seed

Plan the day through

Use music and poetry

Art, food and sound

Use nature like forestry

To help bring you ‘round

Self-care is vital

It’s time for a break

Remember recital

Of these steps to take

One, start your breathing

Two, find a friend

Three, keep believing

You can make despair end

Take time for you now

Take time to heal

Take time to learn how

You can finally re-feel

Remember I’ve got you

I’m here for you friend

To this I’ll be true

To the absolute end!
