GUILT

Guilt

By Steven Bates 27 Nov 2022

Guilt is such a useless thing

Yet so many do its praises sing

Remorse for things that have by-gone

Is likened to pain for which you long

Pain should not be craved, desired

Yet in our guilt, our pain gets mired

We feel the need to bring to bear

The very pain that brought us here

Yet all the guilt can never change

Alter, morph, or rearrange

The way we are, what we’ve become

Or change the past or what we’ve done

So free your mind of guilt my friend

Let all your pain and suffering end

Start your day guilt-free, anew

And live your life by loving you!
